Celebrate your connection or rekindle the spark in your relationship with a romantic getaway in the Okanagan Valley!
Offering a blend of vineyards, lakes, orchards and rolling hills, the Okanagan is one of the most scenic and unique areas of BC (and that is saying something).
The region offers countless opportunities for long walks on the beach as well as more active pursuits like hiking, paddling, boating, skiing and more.
With more than 200+ wineries and many other local producers, the Okanagan Valley is a haven for foodies as well.
JR and I have lived in the southern Okanagan Valley for almost 10 years now. In this post, I’m sharing my favourite Okanagan romantic getaways, curated from first hand experience and recommendations from other local friends!
Since everyone is different, I’ve included some more off-beat ideas alongside some well known favourites. Share your own recommendations in my BC and Alberta Travel Tips Facebook group!

Sparkling Hill Resort, Vernon
No Okanagan romantic getaway list would be complete with Sparkling Hill Resort.
This adults-only destination in Vernon is super dreamy, with a hilltop location, lake views, access to Canada’s largest spa, two person bathtubs in every room, in-room dining options, couples massages and more.
Resort guests have complimentary access to the KurSpa’s eight themed steam and sauna rooms, two relaxation rooms, three pools and a Hydrotherapy circuit. There are also 100+ treatments and services on offer, including many ‘couples’ options.
The resort offers three different places to eat, with the premier restaurant venue showcasing the views with floor to ceiling windows (just like the bedrooms!)
If you feel like being more active, there are plenty of local hiking and cycling trails to explore. Sparkling Hill Resort is located in the same area as Predator Ridge, known for its two outstanding golf courses.

The Cove Lakeside Resort, West Kelowna
If you’re looking for a romantic getaway in the Kelowna area, the Cove Lakeside Resort is a great option. The waterfront location of this all-suite hotel is idyllic (and surprisingly quiet too) – be sure to take full advantage and book a lake view.
The resort has a private beach, tennis court, outdoor pool, putting green, fire pits, spa and restaurant. Boat, stand up paddleboard and kayak rentals are available in summer.
The many amenities make it easy to stay on property but I’d suggest getting out to hike to the top of Goat Peak. This is one of my favourite local hikes.
Lost Moose Cabins, Penticton
A cosy cabin high up in the hills surrounding Penticton with a hot tub, lovely views and easy access to nearby hiking trails? Yes, please!
There are three well-equipped cabins at Lost Moose (Cabin 1 is our fave), a 63 acre property only 15 minutes drive from downtown Penticton.
Still close enough to go out for dinner but far enough away so you can see the stars from the hot tub at night! Temperatures are a little cooler in summer too.
If you do want to stay near downtown, check out the Penticton Lakeside Resort. Many of the rooms have lake views.
My top picks for a romantic meal in Penticton would be Elma (upscale Turkish inspired dishes) or the Restaurant at Popular Grove Winery (locally focused modern Canadian cuisine with amazing views).

The Inn at Therapy Vineyards, Naramata
The blend of spectacular scenery, relaxed vibe, boutique wineries, upscale restaurants and KVR Trail access makes the Naramata Bench the best romantic getaway destination in the Okanagan Valley.
The Inn at Therapy Vineyards is my one of my top picks for accommodation, featuring five luxurious and modern suites with spa-like bathrooms, wine fridges, king sized beds and granite countertops.
Each guest room has direct access to a deck or patio area. The winery’s tasting room is just 30 seconds walk away.
Other romantic getaway ideas on the Naramata Bench include:
- Four Shadows Winery Guest House – well equipped vacation rental surrounded by vineyards
- Wesbert Winery Guest Suites – freestanding bathtubs, private balconies with vineyard views
- D’Angelo Winery Guest House – scenic 27 acre property with swimming pool
Burrowing Owl Estate Winery Guest House, Oliver
Oliver is known as Canada’s wine capital so where better to stay than a winery? The ten room Guest House at the family owned Burrowing Owl Estate Winery is my top pick for many reasons.
First, it’s an adults-only property – no kids playing in the pool here! Second, the rooms have private balconies with stunning views over the 140 acre vineyard and hills beyond. The aforementioned pool is situated just below, surrounded by a large sun deck and adjacent hot tub.
Finally, the winery tasting room is just steps away ($5 charitable donation). There’s a restaurant too, the Sonora Room, and overnight guests have priority for patio seating.
I haven’t been fortunate enough to stay at Burrowing Owl yet but I have visited fairly often over the years for wine tastings. It’s my dream romantic getaway destination!
Spirit Ridge, Osoyoos
The Spirit Ridge complex sits high above the town of Osoyoos, with spectacular views across Osoyoos Lake.
Comprising an all-suite hotel, spa, two restaurants, winery, cultural centre and golf course, there’s little need to leave the property if desired.
Osoyoos is best known for the Okanagan Valley’s hottest temperatures and you can seek relief at the separate adults-only pool. It offers comfy lounge chairs, day beds and hot tub, all backdropped by wonderful scenery.
A wine tasting at Nk’Mip Cellars is a must, followed by lunch at the Patio Restaurant. I’d also recommend dinner at the upscale Syilx-inspired The Bear, the Fish, the Root & The Berry.
The menu is based around the ‘Four Food Chiefs’ – Skamxist (Black Bear), Ntytykxw (Chinook Salmon), Speetlum (Bitterroot) and Seeya (Saskatoon Berry). The Bannock & Spreads dish provides a great start to a romantic meal. The cocktails are also fabulous.

Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park
Not a hotel kind of couple? How about a backcountry adventure in Okanagan Mountain Provincial Park? This rugged protected area occupies much of Okanagan Lake’s eastern shore between Kelowna and Penticton.
While there is a network of hiking trails, the highlight for me is the string of seven waterfront backcountry campgrounds. Commando Bay and Buchan Bay are my favourite, both offering lovely beaches and shaded tent areas close to the water.
During the day, take a trip to Rattlesnake Island, a place with a surprising amount of history. Tip – bring golf clubs and a couple of golf balls!
To reach the marine campgrounds, you’ll need to paddle, boat or hike in. I’d avoid summer weekends if you want to be alone!
Head into the alpine – Apex, Big White and Silver Star
If you’re reading this article for some inspiration for winter romantic getaways, my first pick will always be one of the Okanagan Valley’s ski resorts.
Apex, Big White and Silver Star all have a multitude of accommodation options, from ski-in ski-out condos to cute cabins and luxurious vacation rentals.
For me, Big White has the biggest range of restaurants and non ski activities, so be sure to head there if the slopes aren’t the main focus.
Silver Star is arguably the most accessible (only 20 minutes drive from Vernon) and also has the best nordic (cross country, snowshoeing) facilities.
Apex is smaller and quieter than the other two but has its own charm. The skating loop is a highlight, with the forested setting particularly romantic.
Other romantic getaways close to the Okanagan Valley
Still not found what you’re looking for? The following destinations are close (ish) to the Okanagan Valley.
Manning Provincial Park
Manning Provincial Park is a paradise for nature lovers, with many hiking trails, lakes and scenic viewpoints to explore. The core area of the park is two hours drive west from the Okanagan Valley.
There are cabins, chalets and lodge rooms available via Manning Park Resort, many with full kitchens. If you don’t want to cook, there is a couple of on-site restaurants as well. Plenty of camping options are on offer, from RV accessible campgrounds to backcountry campsites.
On short summer trip, I would prioritise checking out the Cascade Lookout, with a walk along the Paintbrush Trail to spot wildflowers and take in the views. For longer hikes, I really like Skyline I, Frosty Mountain and the Heather Trail.
Cathedral Lakes Lodge
For a very special alpine experience, consider a stay at Cathedral Lakes Lodge. Situated in Cathedral Provincial Park near Keremeos, this privately owned wilderness lodge hosts rooms and cabins in a beautiful subalpine area (1800m high!)
A shuttle provides easy access to the lodge and from there, guests can explore the many hiking trails. One of the best is the 11km Rim Trail, which showcases some of the best scenery in the park. Think azure lakes, endless mountain ranges and striking geological formations.
Cathedral Provincial Park is currently closed after being impacted by wildfires in 2023. Keep that in mind when considering a booking – perhaps put it on the list for 2026.
Prestige Harbourfront Resort, Salmon Arm
Salmon Arm is an ideal romantic getaway for couples who love small towns, waterfalls, scenic lookouts, local produce and lake recreation.
The town has the perfect destination hotel too – the Prestige Harbourfront Resort. At the name implies, it’s right on Shuswap Lake. I’d suggest upgrading to one of the rooms with lake views.
There is an on-site spa as well as restaurants, a hair salon, nail salon and indoor/outdoor pool. Guests also have free access to kayaks and e-bikes to explore the area. Salmon Arm’s welcoming downtown area is just a 10 minute walk away.
On a day trip, I would head to the beautiful Sicamous Lookout, a road accessible viewpoint. Waterfall chasing is another popular activity, with Margaret Falls being one of the best in the area.
Halcyon Hot Springs near Nakusp
Hot Springs are always a good idea for a romantic getaway, especially in winter! Think cosy accommodation, soothing hot pools and a focus on relaxation.
Halcyon Hot Springs is located between Revelstoke and Nakusp, about 3 hours drive from the Okanagan Valley. The property has gorgeous views of the Monashee Mountains with hiking opportunities in summer, snowshoeing in winter.
There is an on-site restaurant and spa, so no need to go far if you don’t want to. Choose between chalets, suites, lofts and cottages.
Other options for hot springs would be Canyon Hot Springs near Revelstoke (seasonal) and Ainsworth Hot Springs near Nelson. If you don’t mind camping or staying elsewhere, Halfway Hot Springs near Nakusp are completely free to visit.
